Excellent dinner at Senses! Unassuming space with an open kitchen and the chef was there from beginning of service until the end. We did the 5 course tasting which ended up being 8 or so courses with 3 amuse bouches and a "pre-dessert" course! The plating and presentation of the courses are beautiful with the flavors being even more impressive. They were great about accommodating food allergies and a pescaterian diet. Some did the wine pairing which you could do half glasses which is a great idea. I did champagne and cocktails with my courses and it was wonderful. You have a team taking care of you so that is nice and service is excellent. I'm surprised he doesn't have a Michelin Star but I have no doubt he soon will. It was also one of the more modestly priced tasting menus I've seen in awhile!

You may want to try other restaurants in Amsterdam before going to "Senses," because once you go to "Senses," the bar is so high that no other restaurants will come close to this gastronomic delight. We booked on the "Fork" but because of some glitch, our reservation didn't come through. Luckily, we were able to get a seating. We've been to some of the finest restaurants in the world and this is truly the best of the best. Now for what we had after the first two amuse-bouches: 1) Sea Bass, Crab, Caviar and rice cracker...first picture 2) Sweet breads and beignets of sweet breads..second picture 3) Braised beef, canoli with braised beef, polenta, and aubergine...third picture palette cleanser/amuse-bouche with passion fruit, and some type of sorbet/ice cream...fourth picture 4) Dutch cherries, pistachio ice cream, and other WOW stuff....fifth picture Having the ingredients is one thing, but having the ability to have orgasmic pleasure with each bit is another. "Senses" definitely exceeded my expecation. I'm sure this culinary sensation would have taken first place at the Annual Bocuse D' Or. There are 4, 5, 6, 7 and possibly eight courses. We only chose 4 and were perfectly satisfied with the quantity, presentations, and tastes. Some of the review here say the prices are high, but if you've ever eaten at a Michellin rated establishment, you'll find that the restaurant is quite inexpensive.

An excellent restaurant with surprising flavour combinations and stunning presentations. We kicked off the meal with 3 amuses and the option of a glass of champagne. I thought that the price of the glass of bubbly (€17) was pretty steep but I guess it helps to cover the cost of the amuses, which were exquisite. The rest of our five course meal was simply superb. When you arrive, they inquire about any dietary restrictions and you choose how many courses you want. What you get is a surprise. I usually like to know what I’m going to eat but in this case, I was more than happy to be surprised. Senses is absolutely top-notch!

We had the six course tasting menu with wine pairings and I have to say that it was one of the best meals we have ever had. The fact that you have no idea what you will be served for each course is exciting and a really interesting concept. I would go back to Amsterdam just to revisit this restaurant and I wish Lars and the team every success - they really deserve it!

Went to celebrate my birthday based on a recommendation from a colleague, and I was very pleased with my choice. Nice relaxed environment, the service was wonderful! Sami, Stacey and Romay were so friendly and welcoming. We had 5 course tasting menu, one of which was for a vegetarian plus wine flight. Everyone loved the food and wine and the sense of occasion.

We each had the seven course tasting menu, which was delicious and very interesting. It changes weekly, and all offerings are the same for the week, but they do accommodate dietary requests. Each course had a theme, with the main ingredient presented in different ways. Great fun and the food and service were superb, loved everything. One small suggestion would be to offer different levels to the paired ones...the price for the wine was very reasonable and they also offered a half glass option (how much can one drink!) but I would have appreciated a more varied selection.

Recommend the 7-course degustation dinner. We've been to several 1, 2 & 3 star Michelin restaurants but always compare our experiences with Senses. Every dish is a surprise and a mouth explosion. The value for money of this restaurant really is incredible, given the quality of the degustation. The wine pairing were perfect. Staff were friendly and really made it a great experience. This is our second trip to Senses, last time was 18 months ago.

A wonderful feeling deja'-vu swept over me as I entered 'Senses' and even though I'd never been to Amsterdam before, I felt immediately at home. The decor, the relaxed atmosphere and the big smile we got from all the staff the moment we stepped in set the scene perfectly. Our table was perfect; with a view out into the 'chic' space of the restaurant and the option of peering into the 'Open Kitchen,' gave us a 360 of all that was going on. The staff, in their sleek black gloves, added an air of surprise. They were led effortlesssly by Rudy, their charming Restaurant Manager and were smart, slick and what a joy...happy. They moved seamlessly amongst the guests and were attentive enough to feel loved but not so over-the-top that you feel smothered. It was, from someone who works the high-end of the service industry, a sheer delight. Oh yes! The food! The food! Lars Bertelsen, you are a true magician! The meal that night laid before us was conjured by sheer brilliance. Every course, every 'amuse' was on-point. Visually stunning, that at timeps, resembled works of art, that I was loath to destroy with knife and fork! If you want simplicity of flavour, the freshness of ingredient and the imagination of a brilliant team in front of and behind the pass, you wouldn't be wrong in making a bee-line for 'Senses by Lars Bertelsen.' We left that night overwhelmed by the experience and will return again without doubt to who knows what new heights this innovative young chef and front of house team can further aspire to!
