We found 'Senses' here on trip advisor and as it was only a 10 minute walk from where we were staying, we decided to give it a go. We booked a few days before our visit and although we were the 2nd table in at 7pm, it soon filled up and it was full when we left at 9pm so I suggest a reservation. We're quite adventurous with food so opted for the 3 course surprise menu and accompanying wine. Boy what a surprise it was! I can't even begin to remember exactly what we were eating as there were so many flavours but it was all amazing! The presentation was incredible and we devoured each course amid hmmmms and ahhhhhss! The service was perfect and I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for any foodies out there visiting the Dam.

We went to Senses based on reviews we read on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. If you want a wonderful food experience, this is the place to go. We went with the 5 course menu and enjoyed all of the dishes we were served. My suggestion is to go with the wine pairing as well. Unfortunately we did not realize they had this option so we had ordered a bottle of wine first.

I am always nervous of 'experience' restaurants as a vegetarian as they tend to react badly if not given plenty of notice... However, I was delighted to have a very different response from Senses. The front of house staff were very welcoming and I let them know from the start that I was vegi - 'no problem' I was told, 'we will create something special with vegetables', and they did. A fabulous array of veg cooked sympathetically and with such amazing flavour and a variety of textures, a real treat. The service was spot on too, just attentive enough without being bothersome - friendly and knowledgeable. I’m sure they could come up with something even better given notice but for a drop-in vegi at short notice this was a fantastic meal, thank you!

Fantastic food and service at this place. This was our second time trusting a chef with a surprise menu but we could not have picked better courses if we tried. The venison was faultless (although my fiancée's was a little under) and each course was beautifully presented and original. A mention also for the ease at which they accommodated my fiancée's gluten-free requirements in every dish. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a special meal and evening in Amsterdam.

Senses restaurant: I couldn't agree more. It made me discover new flavours and senses I had never experienced before. The surprise menu really shocks you in the good sense, you don't expect what you finally get: the best meal I have ever tried. Of course you get a wonderful explanation of what you are eating, because it has such a good look, that you may not know what it is made of. I'm looking forward to repeat the experience!

Tipped through tripadvisor we booked the restaurant. We arrived early because of a later planned cinema visit. We were greeted nicely. Diner is mainly focused on "let us surprise you" menu, although you can also order from menu. Choosing the 4 course surprise menu we had a very nice, delicate, balanced and tasteful diner. We were the one out of two tables with "locals", the rest being tourists. Locals should find this place more as well. Lovely diner, good staff, value for money.

My partner and I took the recommendation from Trip Advisor and went to Senses. You should too. But have faith when you go there, and make sure you don't have a really picky eater in your party. We were given a choice of 3, 4, 5, or 6 courses. Each course would be a surprise. We chose 4 courses. They asked us about any food allergies, food preferences, and dislikes. Then they started bringing the food. Each course was better than the previous. Each dish had so many great complementary flavors. The service was excellent - incredibly attentive and perfectly paced. We highly recommend Senses for a bit of an adventure. If you don't like surprises, you won't like this place. We loved it.

What a find. An unusual experience in that they choose your meal (taking into account any No go foods). Delicious food, well cooked, attractively presented and not dear by Amsterdam prices. 3 courses cost 36 euros. There was the option to have matching wine for each of the 3 courses. The venison main course was superbly cooked. I normally don't eat desserts but I made an exception when I saw the mango and white chocolate disc with lovely lime garnishes. A lot of lovely touches made this a memorable meal.

My older daughter and I travelled to Amsterdam from the UK, for my younger daughter's 21st birthday who is at university there. We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. We opted for the surprise menu (as we are not afraid to eat anything) and what a surprise! Fantastically flavoursome food that should be given a Michelin Star! All wonderfully presented and cooked and announced in perfect detail by the waiting staff. They even added a birthday candle to the dessert. It really couldn't have been more perfect! We trudged through the rain to get there and after were whisked back to our hotel in a warm taxi to finish the evening with cocktails. Perfect in every way. Highly recommend and thank you Senses Restaurant for making my daughter's 21st birthday so memorable!
