The most interesting food I had in Amsterdam
10

I was in Amsterdam for two weeks on business and saw the sign for this eclectic restaurant offering food to titillate all the senses. There were literally no customers but it had good reviews so I walked in and ordered the multi course tasting menu. It ended up being about 35 us dollars as I recall which was stunningly cheap for how good the food was. Amazing presentation and flavors, almost pure art. My favorite restaurant in the entire city. A great date place too.

birthday Dinner Celebration
10

After a long day running around Amsterdam it was fantastic to pull into Senses to have a relaxed dinner to celebrate my husbands birthday. We decided to have the 4 course mystery menu paired with 4 wines. It was absolutely sublime! Each dish was explained as it came to the table as well as each wine. We also had an opportunity to see some of the other dishes coming from the kitchen and everything looked as well as smelled amazing! Our wallets were definitely a little lighter after the bill but it was worth every cent. Loved our experience there.

Once again a splendid evening

Second time we had a course surprise dinner, and it was once again exciting food combinations. All the dishes looked wonderful, a true picture. Presentation, food quality, and diversity all top of the bill. Time flies when you are surrounded with good food.

Very impressive experience!
10

We found 'Senses' here on trip advisor and as it was only a 10 minute walk from where we were staying, we decided to give it a go. We booked a few days before our visit and although we were the 2nd table in at 7pm, it soon filled up and it was full when we left at 9pm so I suggest a reservation. We're quite adventurous with food so opted for the 3 course surprise menu and accompanying wine. Boy what a surprise it was! I can't even begin to remember exactly what we were eating as there were so many flavours but it was all amazing! The presentation was incredible and we devoured each course amid hmmmms and ahhhhhss! The service was perfect and I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for any foodies out there visiting the Dam.

A foodie delight
10

We went to Senses based on reviews we read on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. If you want a wonderful food experience, this is the place to go. We went with the 5 course menu and enjoyed all of the dishes we were served. My suggestion is to go with the wine pairing as well. Unfortunately we did not realize they had this option so we had ordered a bottle of wine first.

Finally, great vegetarian food from a 'foodie' restaurant
10

I am always nervous of 'experience' restaurants as a vegetarian as they tend to react badly if not given plenty of notice... However, I was delighted to have a very different response from Senses. The front of house staff were very welcoming and I let them know from the start that I was vegi - 'no problem' I was told, 'we will create something special with vegetables', and they did. A fabulous array of veg cooked sympathetically and with such amazing flavour and a variety of textures, a real treat. The service was spot on too, just attentive enough without being bothersome - friendly and knowledgeable. I’m sure they could come up with something even better given notice but for a drop-in vegi at short notice this was a fantastic meal, thank you!

Superb food and special experience
10

Fantastic food and service at this place. This was our second time trusting a chef with a surprise menu but we could not have picked better courses if we tried. The venison was faultless (although my fiancée's was a little under) and each course was beautifully presented and original. A mention also for the ease at which they accommodated my fiancée's gluten-free requirements in every dish. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a special meal and evening in Amsterdam.

Discovering new senses - BEST EVER!
10

Senses restaurant: I couldn't agree more. It made me discover new flavours and senses I had never experienced before. The surprise menu really shocks you in the good sense, you don't expect what you finally get: the best meal I have ever tried. Of course you get a wonderful explanation of what you are eating, because it has such a good look, that you may not know what it is made of. I'm looking forward to repeat the experience!

Diner before 007
10

Tipped through tripadvisor we booked the restaurant. We arrived early because of a later planned cinema visit. We were greeted nicely. Diner is mainly focused on "let us surprise you" menu, although you can also order from menu. Choosing the 4 course surprise menu we had a very nice, delicate, balanced and tasteful diner. We were the one out of two tables with "locals", the rest being tourists. Locals should find this place more as well. Lovely diner, good staff, value for money.

Excellent Surprise Menu
10

My partner and I took the recommendation from Trip Advisor and went to Senses. You should too. But have faith when you go there, and make sure you don't have a really picky eater in your party. We were given a choice of 3, 4, 5, or 6 courses. Each course would be a surprise. We chose 4 courses. They asked us about any food allergies, food preferences, and dislikes. Then they started bringing the food. Each course was better than the previous. Each dish had so many great complementary flavors. The service was excellent - incredibly attentive and perfectly paced. We highly recommend Senses for a bit of an adventure. If you don't like surprises, you won't like this place. We loved it.
